I decided to write it all down as one post instead of doing slide after slide. I prefer typing rather than just a picture anyway. 

I’ve left out some of the slides as after further research they were unimportant. 

If anyone asks why exactly am I sharing this or what importance or significance does this even have if any. 

Reading about Edgar Allen Poe was a very interesting topic for me. At the time of this assignment my computer was completely down so I couldn’t complete it or share it for at least another week past due date. Most of the information was added within that week and if my computer hadn’t failed I probably wouldn’t have ever found it. I’m sharing it because I love learning or reading any new thing I can. While yes some of the stuff will have already been known to some. To others it isn’t and it’s new information to them. I’m not writing this to try and prove a specific theory completely or show concrete evidence on why ones wrong or right. I’m writing this just to share it and so other people can enjoy reading it as much as I had writing it. 

Anyway now that that’s said and I hope it at least made a little sense. 🙂

Edgar Allen Poe’s death debate Theory 

Theory: Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease transmitted between other people that were infected. 

Latent TB can happen if you contracted the disease from someone but it’s inactive. Whenever you have Latent TB you aren’t going to show any symptoms.

Symptoms

Poe’s symptoms: Hallucinations, delirium, tremors, incoherent, chills, coughing, wearing someone else’s clothes.

Tuberculosis Symptoms: excessive coughing, no appetite, fever, night sweats, Hallucinations, delirium, tremors, bleeding from mouth.

Knowing that contact with someone that has tuberculosis could cause you to contract Latent TB. I’ve listed everyone that Poe may have had contact with when they had tuberculosis.

SCL11A1 Gene (Nramp 1 Protien) 

Natural resistance-associated macrophage Protien 1 is a Protien that is encoded in the SCL11A1 gene. 

Mutations in this gene have been found to cause suspectibility to infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis and Leprosy.

Conclusion

Most of Edgar’s family died from Tuberculosis suspecting that maybe a mutation to the SCL11A1 gene and Nramp 1 Protien could have run in their family. That could have made them all susceptible to Tuberculosis. 

Tuberculosis is thought to be an infectious disease also Edgar was around multiple people infected with it long enough to contract Latent TB.
